Villa Louis Pasteur

Who we are
Since 2005, Villa Louis Pasteur has been an international residence for the scientific community.
Placed under the patronage of the Fondation de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure, which sought and financed its creation with the support of the City of Paris and the Ile-de-France Region, Villa Louis Pasteur is a discreet and effective showcase for the city of Paris’ ability to welcome, radiate and exert its attraction at European and world research levels.
Located in the heart of Paris and the Latin Quarter, next to the Val de Grâce, Villa Louis Pasteur is built and managed by Hénéo, a subsidiary of RIVP.
History
This unique site, built near the former Wiesnegg workshops that manufactured laboratory instruments in the 19th century and produced Louis Pasteur’s oven in particular, is home to the international scientific community.
Books, works, research, patents and discoveries have all been made at the Villa Louis Pasteur.
Environment
Villa Louis Pasteur is characterised by the serenity and silence that emanate from its garden, and by its warm welcome and attentiveness to the needs of its guests.
Scientific population
Among the guests at Villa Louis Pasteur are Elizabeth Blackburn, an Australian who has won the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine – heir to the work of Marie Curie – and George F. Smoot, a North American who has won the Nobel Prize for Physics and specialises in the relics of the Big Bang (CMB).
The diversity and richness of the international scientific community welcomed over the last 19 years is also remarkable, with more than 5,000 visitors.
Many of the specialists work primarily in the following disciplines: Astronomy, Biology, Cosmology, Geography, Geology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics, Statistics, History, Linguistics, Literature and Philosophy.
