The Cordeliers Residence
For longer stays, we also have another residence for researchers: the Résidence des Cordeliers.
Presentation
In the heart of the Latin Quarter, inside Paris Descartes University, the residence is located in the former Cordeliers convent, a major site in the religious, political, artistic and scientific history of the capital. It is a privileged place to live and a place of welcome in the scientific life of Parisians.
With its 18 fully-equipped, furnished flats, the residence encourages and facilitates international exchanges for foreign researchers who come to Paris to work.
The Cordeliers residence, which opened its doors on 28 November 2019, also offers a choice of extra-hotel services and a range of services included in the price (fully-equipped kitchen, linen and towels, broadband internet, cleaning once a week).
You must stay at the Cordeliers residence for at least 1 month.
We welcome foreign researchers invited by scientific establishments in Paris, in particular the Université de Paris Cité and Sorbonne Université.

History
The Cordeliers convent is a historic university site in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, located in the Latin Quarter at 15, rue de l’École-de-Médecine. It takes its name from the former Cordeliers convent, a monastic establishment founded thanks to the generosity of King Louis IX and part of the Franciscan order. Today, only the convent refectory remains of the original building, recently restored by the RIVP.
During the French Revolution, the Cordeliers convent became the headquarters of Danton and Desmoulins’ Club des Cordeliers. Under the Empire, it became the base for the École Pratique de la Faculté de Médecine de Paris.
